Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach me at Dani@DaniTheNanny.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A Rest & Restore Session is a dedicated, 1–2 hour visit designed to support new parents in the earliest days and weeks postpartum. I step in so you can shower, nap, eat, decompress, or simply breathe while I care for your newborn and manage light baby-related tasks.

At this time, I provide Rest & Restore sessions within a defined radius of South Austin (78704, 78739, 78745, & 78749) to ensure arrival within a 30min window and maximize your session time.

If you're outside this range, please inquire—some exceptions may be possible.

I provide overnight services to a wider range of the greater Austin area. Details of those services can be found under "Overnight Newborn Care."

I provide written letters of recommendation, training and certification verification, and background checks rather than direct reference calls. This protects the privacy of my previous families and is part of my professional policy.

Each visit is personalized, but typically includes:

  • Newborn care while you rest
  • Washing/sterilizing bottles & pump parts
  • Light baby laundry & restocking nursery supplies
  • Feeding support (breast/chestfeeding, expressed milk, or formula)
  • Gentle guidance and reassurance as questions come up

You can schedule a free consultation directly through my website. We'll meet virtually to answer each other's questions. Once you've made a decision to book, I will send you a brief work agreement to peruse and sign. When the document is signed, a date is picked and the full booking fee is collected.

The session fee is due in full at booking and is non-refundable if cancelled less than 72 hours ahead of time, as this time is reserved exclusively for your family and I turn away other clients to honor that commitment.

Rescheduling (More Than 24 Hours’ Notice)
With less than 72 hours but more than 24 hours’ notice, your payment may be transferred one time to a new date within 30 days, subject to availability.

Cancellations Within 24 Hours
Cancellations made within 24 hours of the session start time are non-refundable and non-transferable. A new full payment is required to rebook.

No-Show Policy
If there is no response within 15 minutes of my arrival (door unanswered, no reply to calls/texts), the session will be considered a no-show, and the full fee is forfeited.

If I Must Cancel
Should I need to cancel for any reason, you may choose either:
— A full refund, or
— A transfer of your payment to a new date of your choice.

Sessions are a minimum of 2 hours, offered Monday–Friday between 6:00 AM and 3:00 PM, and begin the moment I walk through your door.

I arrive within a 30-minute arrival window to allow for traffic and any brief delays between clients.

Additional hours may be added at the time of booking, pending availability.

First-time clients are welcome to begin with a 1-hour introductory visit for comfort and fit. All subsequent sessions require a minimum of 2 hours.

Slots are limited. Booking 1–2 weeks in advance is recommended, though same-week openings may occasionally be available.

Absolutely. Many families book one or more sessions per week during the newborn period to create predictable pockets of rest and recovery.

No. Rest & Restore is inclusive of all caregivers—birthing parents, non-gestational parents, adoptive parents, surrogacy-formed families, and any caregiver who needs support.

Rest & Restore is specifically focused on the newborn and your postpartum recovery. While my services can include taking care of older infants up to 6 months old, including their twins, I do not provide childcare for older siblings.

I’m happy to handle baby-related tasks (bottles, pump parts, laundry, restocking). General housekeeping, errands, and tasks unrelated to infant care fall outside the scope of this service.

It’s very possible your baby may sleep through most—or all—of our time together. When that happens, your session is still fully valuable. I simply shift my focus to caring for you and supporting your home so you can rest with peace of mind.

One of the advantages of working with a professional at my level of experience is that I can gently navigate your home and discern what needs attention without requiring direction or instruction. My goal is to ease your load, not add to it.

While baby sleeps, I can:

  • Wash, fold, and put away baby’s laundry
  • Wash and sanitize bottles
  • Wash and sanitize pump parts
  • Restock or tidy the nursery
  • Prep light snacks, fruits, or vegetables for the birthing parent
  • Stay alert so you can take an uninterrupted shower or nap

I’m here to make your time feel restorative, supportive, and truly cared for—whether baby is awake or peacefully asleep.

I’m delighted to provide gentle, evidence-based, and judgment-free support for all safe and informed feeding choices, including breast/chestfeeding, pumping, formula, combination feeding, and donor milk.

While I offer expert guidance within my scope as a newborn care professional, I am not a doula, lactation consultant, or medical provider.

Only a licensed healthcare professional can diagnose conditions such as low milk supply, mastitis, tongue-tie, or latching challenges.
