Overnight Newborn Care provides hands-on, professional, newborn-focused support throughout the night so parents can truly rest. While you sleep, I handle feeds, soothing, diapering, settling, tracking infant cues, and maintaining a calm overnight environment.
I take full charge of nighttime care, including:
Parents wake up with a tidy nursery space and a well-cared-for baby.
Yes, I can gently support age-appropriate sleep foundations — helping you understand cues, support natural rhythms, encourage healthy habits and sleep hygiene, and lay the groundwork for gentle sleep shaping when developmentally appropriate (typically beginning around 4 months).
Absolutely. If you prefer to nurse overnight, I’ll bring baby to you, assist with positioning if needed, and handle burping, diapering, and settling so you can return to sleep quickly.
I focus solely on baby-related tasks. However, I do:
I do not provide housekeeping, meal prep, pet care, or care of older siblings during overnight sessions.
During overnight care, I remain responsive and attentive throughout the shift and am awake when the baby needs care. When the baby is safely sleeping, I rest so that I can provide alert, focused support throughout the night.
I typically work from a common area so I can move in and out of the nursery as needed, though I’m also able to base myself in a guest room if your family prefers additional privacy.
For safety and consistency of care, I do require that baby sleep in their own room during my shift.
If you prefer to room-share, I’m happy to return baby to a separate, safe sleep space in your room—such as a bassinet—at the end of my shift, always following the ABCs of safe sleep.
I do not facilitate or support bed-sharing/co-sleeping arrangements while I'm on duty.
Yes—I am highly trained and deeply experienced in newborn and infant care. While I am not yet certified as a Newborn Care Specialist, I bring a strong professional foundation and a commitment to ongoing education.
I offer families the benefit of:
• 16+ years of hands-on newborn and infant experience
• Active CPR/First Aid certification, renewed biannually
• A clean driving record
• Annual criminal background checks through multiple Austin nanny agencies
• Continual professional development, including ongoing training with Newborn Care Solutions and the Center for Pediatric Sleep Management
To honor the privacy and boundaries of the families I’ve supported, I do not share direct contact details for previous clients. Many of my past families are still in touch and navigating busy lives with growing children, and I want to protect their time just as I will protect yours.
What I can provide includes:
• Formal letters of recommendation
• Current background check verification
• Training and certification documentation
• A clear outline of my professional scope, experience, and philosophy
I understand choosing support for your baby is a deeply personal decision, and I’m happy to walk through any questions you may have as part of our consultation.
We start with a free 30-minute consultation you can book directly through my website. We'll discuss your needs, household rhythms, feeding plans, and how overnight support can best serve your family.
A standard overnight is 10 hours, usually between 9:00 PM and 7:00 AM, though slight adjustments may be available depending on your household rhythm and my availability.
Most families reserve their overnight support during the second or early third trimester, but last-minute openings may become available. Early inquiry is recommended.
Many families begin with 3–5 nights per week for the first month, then adjust based on recovery, feeding goals, and sleep patterns. You're welcome to start small and expand as needed.
To ensure availability and maintain care consistency, unused nights typically do not roll over. However, you can request to move a night within the same week depending on availability. When given enough notice, and scheduling allows, I will try to be flexible but its not guaranteed.
If your baby arrives earlier or later than expected, your start date adjusts to align with your baby’s homecoming. If your family would like additional support beyond the original end date, we can explore extending services based on availability. My goal is to meet your family where you are while also honoring the calendar commitments already in place.
It depends on how I am hired:
If I am hired as an independent contractor
I am responsible for managing my own taxes. Families do not withhold or pay employment taxes on my behalf.
If I am hired as a household employee (W-2)
The family is responsible for withholding and paying applicable household employment taxes.
This option is most commonly chosen by families seeking long-term or full-time support, or who prefer an employment-style structure.
A W-2 arrangement requires a guaranteed minimum number of hours per week and a deposit that is applied toward hours worked to secure scheduling and start dates.
Whether the role is classified as independent contractor or household employee depends on the scope of care, the length of booking, and the level of direction and control the family wishes to have. I’m happy to discuss which arrangement best aligns with your family’s needs and level of comfort.
All packages include the same attentive, newborn-focused support — the only difference is how long you’d like us to partner together. Longer packages provide added continuity, smoother transitions through developmental leaps, and a small discount as a thank-you for your commitment.
Possibly - if my schedule allows, we can extend your package. Additional time is secured with an updated agreement and retainer to hold the new dates. I’ll always let you know what options are available so you can choose what best fits your family’s needs.
